Meet David ‘Barney’ Miller, one of the most inspiring individuals you will ever come across and the driving force and inspiration behind best mate and 3x World Champion surfer, Mick Fanning.
Barney, once a promising young surfer is now paralysed from the chest down, he was involved in a devastating car accident at age 20 and told he would never walk again.
Barney and Mick met during the J-Bay surf event in South Africa whilst Mick was competing in the world tour, the two have been tight ever since. Now training partners and surfing partners the two inspire and push each other to achieve their goals.
In last Sunday’s episode of 60 Minutes, Mick and Barney tell their great Aussie mateship story and how they’ve helped each other through the darkest of times, Mick even dedicating his 2013 world title to Barney.
