He’s gone against all odds, but Pontus Alv has definitely come out on top. He grew up in Malmo, Sweden, a city that hasn’t ever had much of a skate scene and snows for half of the year. Still, he managed to evolve as one of the most respected and creative skaters in the world. He had a successful career as a pro, skating for companies such as Cliche and Emerica, however he decided to break away from the pro scene and start his own brand, Polar Skate Co. Polar has now grown into one of the most popular skate brands globally, and has even managed to do well outside of the skate apparel scene. Pontus has also been credited with inspiring a generation of ‘DIY skaters’ after releasing a series of films of him and his friends building their own skate spots and skating them.
