Spear fisherman Tyler McQuillen got the shock of a lifetime recently whilst spear fishing off the coast of Refugio State Beach near Santa Barbara, California.
McQuillen had a GoPro mounted to his speargun and filmed the dramatic moment as a great white shark hit him in the back, then circling past, It was believed to have been close to four-metres. Lucky for Tyler he survived and was able to swim into shore. An image (since removed) shows the aftermath of the shark bite and McQuillen’s two broken toes. He was treated at a hospital.
“I got that on video. Wooo, f—ing gnarly,” Mr McQuillen said when he surfaced.
