In February of 2011, Christchurch, New Zealand was struck by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake which was followed by severe aftershocks that claimed the lives of 185 people, as well as destroying a large majority of the city. Today Christchurch still looks much like it did after the earthquake, covered in rubble and abandoned buildings.
Levi’s Skateboarding, who have done great work in Bolivia, India and Oakland, decided to help out the city of Christchurch and it’s skate community by sending its team over to build and shred a DIY spot with the locals. Check out the amazing video above giving us an inside look at the tight Christchurch skate community, moving details of the earthquake, the spot build and a rad skate session.
