Welcome back to Corona Moments, a Garage x Corona video series.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be hand picking and serving up the best moments of Taylor Steele’s film collection, featuring sunset barrels, all time boat trips, and perfect dreamy surf sessions. You know, those moments you reminisce about with your buddies over a cold beer.
When directors Nathan Myers and Taylor Steele got together to discuss their next film collaboration, Nathan had the idea of documenting one day of surfing around the world and really try to capture a worldview of surfing for that day. Obviously an impossible mission for two to achieve, Taylor & Nathan reached out to the 25 best filmmakers and surfers to work in unison to document the world of surfing in a single 24-hour period scheduled for May 2nd, 2012 – the end result was the multi-award winning surf film ‘Here & Now’.
As the waves rolled in throughout the world on May 2nd 2012, Kelly Slater found his Corona Moment in Fiji surfing 8-10 foot Cloudbreak with a few buddies.
‘We had a really nice swell in Fiji May 2nd, it was a little bit too big for Cloudbreak kinda washing through so we paid a lot of dues…in between the melee of big sets we got some really nice waves and it was fun!’ – Said Kelly
