Yugen is a 3-year borderless mountain-based documentary film that explores the connection mountaineers and environmentalists share with the natural world and follows snowboard mountaineer Rafael Pease and crew as they travel throughout the corners of the world, tirelessly trudging gear into unseen locations to capture the true essence of being one with the mountain.
“The winds that go through our bodies and the oceans between us. The peaks that watch as we gather in nature. There is no difference viewed through the eyes. No difference felt through the soul. Throughout the journey of this project we have climbed over 90 mountains and volcanos, hiked 1,000 plus kilometres and gained 100,000 meters in elevation, spent 194 in a tent to find our roots. We interviewed 32 legends to gain new perspectives and used 31 cameras to capture what was possible. Overall attaining around 550 hours of footage just to share that indescribable feeling we experienced.”
What is a connection? It’s the ground beneath our feet and the sky above our heads.
The winds that go through our bodies and the oceans between us. The peaks that watch as we gather in nature. There is no difference viewed through the eyes. No difference felt through the soul.
